After listening to one I was curious to compare it to the original version and in searching I found that many people have written their own version of Hallelujah. I learned that the true author, Leonard Cohen, who is Jewish, wrote these words from his own perspective, but when Kelley Mooney was asked to sing it for Easter Mass, she decided the beautiful music was worth far more so she wrote her own Easter version of Hallelujah. (Lyrics are at the end).
The next one is unforgettable, and the one following is Leonard Cohen’s own. The last one is Shrek.

Lyrics:
Kelly Mooney’s Hallelujah
A crown of thorns placed on His head
He knew that He would soon be dead
He said did you forget me Father did you?
They nailed Him to a wooden cross
Soon all the world would feel the loss
Of Christ the King before His Hallelujah
Hallelujah x4
He hung His head and prepared to die
Then lifted His face up to the sky
Said I am coming home now Father to you
A reed which held His final sip
Was gently lifted to his lips
He drank His last and gave His soul to glory
Hallelujah x4
The soldier who had used his sword
To pierce the body of our Lord
Said truly this is Jesus Christ our Savior
He looked with fear upon his sword
Then turned to face his Christ and Lord
Fell to his knees crying Hallelujah
Hallelujah x4
Took from his head the thorny crown
And wrapped him in a linen gown
And laid him down to rest inside the tomb
The holes in his hands, his feet and side
Now in our hearts we know he died
To save us from ourselves oh hallelujah
Hallelujah x4
Three days went by again they came
To move the stone to bless the slain
With oil and spice anointing hallelujah
But as they went to move the stone
They saw that they were not alone
But Jesus Christ has risen Hallelujah
Hallelujah x4
Hallelujah x4
A Priest Stuns Wedding Guests with his amazing version of Hallelujah
We join together here today,
To help two people on their way,
As Leah and Chris start their life together,
And now they’ve reached their special date,
We’ve come to help them celebrate,
And show them how much we ALL love them too, YEAH!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah,
As Leah‘s walking up the aisle,
And Chris looks up and gives a smile,
The love that flows between them fills the church, YEAH!
With Leah’s friends and family at her side,
She really is the blushing bride,
With love and pride they lead her
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah,
With the priest and the family who lead the prayers,
We say our lines and they say theirs,
I guide them through the ceremony, IN UNION
And in this house of God above,
They join their hands to show their love,
And say those most important words I DO, YEAH!,
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah,
By Cloverton:
I’ve heard about this baby boy
Who’s come to earth to bring us joy
And I just want to sing this song to you
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
With every breath I’m singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
A couple came to Bethlehem
Expecting child, they searched the inn
To find a place for You were coming soon
There was no room for them to stay
So in a manger filled with hay
God’s only Son was born, oh Hallelujah
Hallelujah
The shepherds left their flocks by night
To see this baby wrapped in light
A host of angels led them all to You
It was just as the angels said
You’ll find Him in a manger bed
Immanuel and Savior, Hallelujah
Hallelujah
A star shown bright up in the east
To Bethlehem, the wisemen three
Came many miles and journeyed long for You
And to the place at which You were
Their frankincense and gold and myrrh
They gave to You and cried out Hallelujah
Hallelujah
I know You came to rescue me
This baby boy would grow to be
A man and one day die for me and you
My sins would drive the nails in You
That rugged cross was my cross, too
Still every breath You drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
The word, “Hallelujah” is important to me because at the end of a very busy day when the day’s work is finished I always hear the angels sing that in my head. It’s the song with only the words, “Hallelujah”. Wish I could find it now. It means “you are finished go to bed”.
This Hallelujah in the you tube videos means “Happy Easter”. Thank you for the feeling I have in my heart right now for you.
