Posts Tagged ‘Republic’

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Being a Canadian, who once lived in United States, I grew to love certain things about the USA. I loved standing at attention every morning and reciting the pledge of allegiance in High School. I loved the swelling feelings of true patriotism as we sang the songs of liberty at patriotic events, like at Disneyland.

Canada is a wonderful little country. Big land with most of the population hugging close to the 49th parallel. Here we don’t get all patriotic like they do south of the border. They think they are the best country in the world. Maybe we think we’re the worst. Canada has always been at odds with the French. The French are a little Democracy in the middle of a struggling Republic. The Federal Government has always tried to inch its way into our Provincial pockets, stealing from us and trying to give to the welfare state in the east. However, Canada has not allowed herself to be taken over by such corruption as is going on in the USA right now. Shame on you United States. Perhaps you should take a lesson from us. It is not good to be too proud, or arrogant. If you are a true republic you should feel modest and grateful; be protective and pro-active of your liberties, and hold them close and dear.
Some quotes I like:
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. – Thomas Jefferson

“Democracy is the road to Socialism.”- Karl Marx

Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.” – H.L. Mencken  More Quotes
It is long past time for the masses to educate themselves on government. While we sit by not paying attention our treasury is being robbed, and our country destroyed, for where America goes, Canada follows.

There is no use in fighting unless we have quality replacement options. It is not enough to just be mad, we must also be wise, and turning inward is the beginning of wisdom. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the holy is understanding”.
Or, Confuscious put it best in his classic essay, “The Great Learning”:

The ancients who wished to illustrate illustrious virtue throughout the
world, first ordered well their own States.
古之欲明明德於天下者,先治其國
Wishing to order well their States, they first regulated their families.
欲治其國者,先齊其家
Wishing to regulate their families, they first cultivated their persons.
欲齊其家者,先修其身
Wishing to cultivate their persons, they first rectified their hearts.
欲修其身者,先正其心
Wishing to rectify their hearts, they first sought to be sincere in their thoughts.
欲正其心者,先誠其意
Wishing to be sincere in their thoughts, they first extended to the utmost of their knowledge.
欲誠其意者,先致其知
Such extension of knowledge lay in the investigation of things.
致知在格物
Things being investigated, knowledge became complete.
物格而後知至
Their knowledge being complete, their thoughts were sincere.
知至而後意誠
Their thoughts being sincere, their hearts were then rectified.
意誠而後心正
Their hearts being rectified, their persons were cultivated.
心正而後身修
Their persons being cultivated, their families were regulated.
身修而後家齊
Their families being regulated, their States were rightly governed.
家齊而後國治
Their States being rightly governed, the entire world was at peace.
國治而後天下平
From the Son of Heaven down to the mass of the people, all must
consider the cultivation of the person the root of everything besides. (…)
自天子以至於庶人,壹是皆以修身為本 (…)

Not only does turning inward lead to wisdom, but it also leads to power. This is the core message of the Cause of Liberty. Fixing ourselves as individuals is what fixes the world.

“The most influential leaders from Jesus Christ to Gandhi, have taken this approach. They seem to have done a pretty good job of improving the world.” If our education was deep and broad enough we wouldn’t have to ask fruitless questions. We would rather be prepared with the answers.

Where should I file this, and will it fit somewhere on my personal covered wagon that I travel through life in? I’ll add this to my wheels.
WHEELS:
This is not about God; it is about me. God in me allows me to think for myself, plan, and carry out the plan. What do I need to keep myself moving? Label your wheels with four self-propelling titles that cover your general well-being. These are mine. I need:

Focus: Motivation & Organization (for education)

Belief: If I think I can change I can change (for education)

Love: Love and Social Support (for education)

Health: Nutrition, Rest, Exercise (for education)

Everyone travels through life in a covered wagon and lives in a tee-pee.  They just don’t know it.
